Diffusion of nitrogen gas through polyethylene based films

Polyethylene-based films can be used as sealant materials at room temperature in packaging applications. They also melted and sealed with glass, acting material solar cells. The polyethylene-based polymers investigated this paper are a linear low-density polyethylene modified maleic anhydride (or PE-MAH), an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer EMAA). Measurements of nitrogen gas diffusion coefficient (D) have been performed three different temperatures ranging between 23°C 32°C. experimental apparatus to measure the coefficients is original compared other commonly used. obtained D results correlated polymeric structure morphology by means differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric-analyses (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. Furthermore, D-coefficients literature data polyethylenes structural organization (HDPE, LLDPE, LDPE). thermal activation energy evaluated for two polymers. Arrhenius plot has calculate energies both predict D-coefficient temperatures, close these analyzed.
